| Murder Mystery Dinner Theater presents, “Death in a Dustbowl” – The Mystery Train at the Hereford House 20th & Main until June 7th. “Mighty Muddy Murder” show starting June 20th.
The Mystery Train shows are in the “dining car” – actually the dinning room of the local restaurant of a train heading for Kansas City in 1936 in the midst of a heavy dust storm. Big Mike Hurlebert (Philip Blue Owl Hooser) and a couple of hobo's straight from the ‘30s, Gilly (Mike Ott) and Lucky (Gregroy Roberts), are there to greet you. The latter two rascals have somehow snuck into the dinning car and have “borrowed” the white coats of dinning car waiters.
Station matron, Debra Glagola, lets us know that we are deep in dust bowl country heading for Kansas City. Folks in the audience occasionally take minor roles as appetizers, then salads are served. Unexpectedly, we find that Big Mike has been murdered in the baggage car and all characters are suspect. As dinner arrives, the audience members use bribe money, ballots and just plain guts to try to name the murderer. Clues come and go aplenty. Prive detective Calvin Thompson arrives and gets the best laughs of the evening as he uses such malaprop's as impersonatin for investigation, parasite for paramour and lots of other such expressions.
The mystery is solved before we reach our “dependination” (destination). The magic here is fun, excellent food, fine acting and possibly the discovery of newfound friends. For reservations call 816-813-9654 or to view more information and show times go to their website at www.KcMysteryTrain.com.
