I attended the Grand Opening of this beautifully remodeled theatre. Several years ago it was the home of Northtown Opry for great entertainment as well. Butch Rigby purchased the building and has placed many amenities in it that you need to see for yourself. He made it into stadium seating, added 13 red leather recliners, large isles, 2 VIP Decks with comfortable leather couches, and a sound system which is perfect.
Great viewing for all as well. The walls have hand painted murals depicting images of KC and NKC. There is an eight-foot golden mechanical man with gears opening and closing the curtains. The theatre will show first run movies. The Armour Screenland is running the new Indiana Jones movie now. The theatre will be open 7 days a week.
As you approach the theatre the lighted Armour markee is striking to see and brings back great memories. The original box-office is there also. Upon entering the large lobby you will find a beautifully crafted bar style concession stand. They offer full bar, varied food selections plus regular theatre fare to choose from. The lobby also has tables and chairs for your enjoyment as well.
It is easy to drive there from Johnson County by just going north on I-35 to the north side of the downtown loop and get onto the Heart of America Bridge that runs into Burlington Ave. Continue on Burlington north until you reach Armour Road and turn east (right) several blocks to the Theatre. There is a First Watch Restaurant across the street from the theatre. The address is 408 Armour Rd, Kansas City, MO 64116. I found there was not a problem with parking either. The theatre was to capacity of 300 that evening. If there would be a problem with parking I would have had it that evening.
The Armour Screenland also offers upstairs a unique, multi-purpose facility for special events such as weddings, corporate events, seminars, etc. You can get information for this by going to www.screenland.com or call 816-994-7354.
