Halfway to Hollywood, Sept. 12-21 ( 3rd Annual Event.

Ben Meade and Brian Mossman invite film lovers to enjoy this two-week festival with films being shown at the Glenwood Arts Theater in Overland Park. There will be one film shown at the Englewood in Independence and one shown at the Rio Theater. The latest addition to the schedule is an appearance by film critic, historian, biographer and documentarist Richard Shickel. He will be on hand at the Englewood Theater for the Kansas City debut of his "The Life and Art of Charles Chaplin." The documentary about the great comic earned a standing ovation at the latest Cannes Film festival. Veteran movie special effects wizard Ray Harryhausen will be on hand for screenings of his films including (Jason and the Argonauts), (Earth Vs. Flying Saucers), (The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad), and (Mysterious Island). Don't miss this chance to see the great master of special effects in person. The second weekend will be presided over by Tom Savini, veteran actor and film director. He is bringing prints of (Dawn of the Dead), and (From Dusk Till Dawn). In addition you can see many films that are still looking for distribution deals with the opportunity to vote on them. There will also be many Independent, documentary and foreign films.
