I was thrilled to meet the director of "Mean Girls" recently at an interview. This new film is opening soon in Kansas City and looks like a real winner.
When asked for the secret in making a successful teen flick, Mark replied: "The only secret I know is not to feel like you're making a teen flick. It's kind of like Freaky Friday. When we made it, the reason I got the job is that I went into Disney and said :I have no idea how to make a family movie, but if it appeals to adults and it is a movie I would like to see, it should work for teens too".
When asked how it was directing a young cast, he replied "Oh, the zany hijinks. They were incredible. Just like summer camp but usually restricted to the hotel where they all stayed. The kids were all professionals and it was easy to work with them. Mark hopes everyone will see "Mean Girls" and you can look for my review in the Movies section. |
