If you like intense action and suspense then Shooter is the movie for you. This movie opens up in the middle of a military battle that goes horribly wrong. Two marines who are snipers protecting their government from the hostiles are ambushed and left behind to fend for themselves. Mark Wahlberg stars in the role as Bob Lee Swager, the only sniper to survive the hostile advances. Although we do not see how Bob survives the attacks it is shown that he has no trouble surviving in the worst conditions. After the hostile attack the storyline opens up 3 years later with Bob living in the mountains with his dog. Keeping his eye on the latest government at a distance, that is until Colonel Isaac Johnson, portrayed by Danny Glover, approaches him for assistance with an attempted assassination on the president. They need Bob to help find out the true identity of the shooter and prevent the killing from happening.
In the midst of getting Bob back into the military the plan is to double-cross him, again. Unfortunately for Colonel Johnson, what he does not know if that Bob is playing him all along. He is not going to be set up again and left for dead. This movie has a wide variation of action, suspense and thrills. Not to mention some of the best special effects I have seen.
If you enjoyed Bourne Identity this is a must see for you. Being a female and this movie being targeted for men I would recommend it. Not great for children as it contains a lot of graphic shooting. If you want a thrilling weekend get your popcorn and enjoy everything Shooter has to offer. Intense drama and Mark Wahlberg coming into a lead role in a BIG way.
