American Royal again poised to feature a lot of country talent in KC.

Chris LeDoux kicks off the American Royal Rodeo Concert Season on opening night Oct. 22, after Super-Bull/CBR Champion Bull Riding World Cup Finals. LeDoux, a former World Bareback Bronco Riding Champion, has released 36 albums and sold nearly six million records with hit songs. Garth Brooks credits his wild stage shows to watching LeDoux perform. I saw Chris on his last visit to KC and the show was electrifying. Website:

Uncle Cracker performs on October 23 after the second Super-Bull/CBR World Cup finals. Most recently he had a huge duet hit with Kenny Chesney "When the Sun Goes Down". Andy Griggs performs on October 28 after the opening evening of the Rodeo. Joe Nichols follow on October 29 after the Rodeo. Joe was named the Academy of Country Music's Top New Male Vocalist of 2003. Darryl Worley finishes off the season on October 30 with a show following the PRCA Rodeo Finals.

With seven nominations, Alan Jackson leads the field of nominees for the 38th Annual Country Music Association Awards, to air live on CBS-TV, Tuesday November 9. Toby Keith is nipping at his heels with six, while Kenny Chesney, Alison Krauss and Gretchen Wilson each have five. Vince Gill will step down this year after 12 award shows in a row, and give up the hosting duties to the popular duo Brooks and Dunn. They are also trying for three awards - including Entertainer of the Year, in which they will compete with Tim McGraw, Toby Keith and Alan Jackson.
