(Runs January 26 through February 13 – then 5 more days at the Gem Theatre) The story starts in Pittsburgh 1969, with the soulful sounds of Motown coming from the jukebox in a restaurant. . The folks in Memphis Lee’s restaurant talk about the city’s plans to raze the diner for redevelopment. For most of their lives, he and his customer have gathered here, sharing their stories. Where will they go now? Two times Pulitzer Prize-winner August Wilson vividly portrays a humorous and heartfelt drama of lives in transition, evolving social awareness and spirits rising.

Be sure and catch this terrific play at a quality theatre. For more information phone 816-235-2700 or visit The Spencer Theatre in the Performing Arts Center located on the UMKC campus just east of the Country Club Plaza.
